While in Texas he was noted to have been a man wearing many
hats.

He was a coroner of Bexar county.

He was a teacher, continued to make and stitch saddles,
harnesses for income.

Used his compass as a surveyor.

A Curator at Georgetown University.

Several time President pro tem of Annual Conference.

A member of General
Conference.

Presiding Elder in
the German field.

Appointed minister to the colored.

A carpenter building benches for his congregation along with
pulpits, constructed churches, and a home for his family.

He spoke English, German and Spanish. English as first
language, German self taught and very little Spanish. He found Spanish the most
difficult.
